Maintenance 2007 - Day 7.3

Cleaned the exterior of the carbs.
Replaced the rubber heat shield (mat).
Installed carb isolators (boots).
Ran vacuum and mocked up the cruise servo.
Installed cruise throttle linkage.
Installed carbs and synced.
Put in coolant, bled, and verified working.


The additional arm aligned against the raised circle on the bell crank, in the closed position.

Not happy with the full throttle position of the arm, I decided to rotate it away from the raised circle.

Happier with that position, I mark it.

My first ever attempt at tapping a threaded hole.
First I drilled the hole in the arm, then used that as a guide to drill the slightly undersized hole to be threaded in the bell crank.

Once tapping was complete, I installed the bolt with a flat washer and a lock washer.

You can also see I trimmed the end off and added another hole.


And thread lock.
 

Took it back off to get access to the nut side of the end's bolt.

From bottom: bolt head (PN 34, Slotted Shoulder Bolt); flat washer; lock washer; fabricated arm; lock washer; nut.

Of course, more threadlock.


Mounted.

The eyelet (PN 25, Bead Chain Eyelet Connector) is free to move on the shoulder bolt.

 

Full view shows the relationship between the eyelet and actuator cable end when mounted on the air box bracket.

Here I've added the chain (PN 20, Bead Chain) on the actuator cable.
  That's enough photos for today.

I removed the actuator cable from the air box, put the lid on the air box, and used the air box for leverage to install the carbs in the bike.

After filling the cooling system and idling for a bit, I bleed the cooling system for air and got it full.

Then I synced the carbs with the flow meter.  Only #3 took a little adjustment.  I was actually hoping for more, thinking it might improve a lot.

Also ran up the RPMs for a bit.  The temp gauge stopped just past the left point of the 'M' in TEMP and stayed there.  Cooling system is fixed.
