Maintenance 2007 - Day 5

When the PAIR system is removed, the ports that fed it from the outside of the heads must be covered.

Buried between under the carbs, between the head, and under the PAIR pumps is the main housing into the block from the radiator.  It was a PITA to remove from the pictured tube.  I had to take channel lock pliers and twist it off.

Also got the thermostat out and replaced.  Actually feel like I'm making some progress.

Stainless steel blanks covering the ports that used to feed the PAIR system.	Cost me a 12-pack of Pepsi for the sheet metal guys on base.	Getting this cover off was a PITA. Two seals get replaced. This collar shaped seal should be place on the tube, then the cover slid on the tube.
The photos below are very good news. This old thermostat is clearly broken and surely was creating problems. I've been having cooling issues for some time.  Purchased a new fan switch, but have been bypassing it with a manual switch for several months. I wonder if the switch is even bad...or was the water just not flowing correctly?
